The language was pretty coarse for my taste, but it clearly was important to the story. This became particularly clear in the latter chapters. I hope folks read this book to get a window into this culture. I worked for a couple of years as a teacher in a community that was very similar to what he described in his book here, and found what he wrote to be an accurate portrayal of what I observed.
