Reviews

I watched the movies based on this novel, and loved them. Even though I knew that their adaptation was "loose," I found the novel a disappointment. The character of Anton, surprisingly enough, is more complex and ambiguous in the film than in the novel. The film version of Anton is a broken character, screwed up by his own bad choices. In the novel, we rarely doubt Anton, although he often doubts the people that he works for. Surprisingly enough, it doesn't have the depth or flavor of the movies, which just made me want to explore the world more.
