But not everyone at Camp Patience is who they claim to be. Eventually Sarat is befriended by a mysterious functionary, under whose influence she is turned into a deadly instrument of war. Well written enough to get through, but frustrating in its lack of engagement with the effects of climate change. This may have been an expectation issue, I heard about this book in relationship to folks changing their outlooks, but it takes two existing conflicts (US wars in the middle east, and the US civil war) and attempts to cram them into a rising sea level world.
